National Safety Day was celebrated at NTPC Talcher Super Thermal Power Station celebrated on March 4,2017. Chief Guest of the occasion, Shri Debasis Sarkar Group General Manager (Talcher Kaniha) on this occasion unfurled the safety flag.
Later Safety pledge was administered by GGM & senior officials in english,hindi & oriya to all employees & security personnel. Thereafter two minutes of silence was observed in memory of those who have sacrificed their lives during construction, erection, operation & maintenance activities of the station.
Shri Sarkar addressing the gathering said “safety is on one’s hand, every individual working in the station should be safety conscious in order to make the power station a “zero accident zone”.
He said one should not feel that safety is issue related safety department, it starts with each individual who can avoid accidents and mishaps in day to day operation of the plant with safety measures. He added every employee and labourer working in the station should share their experiences on safety in order strengthen safety measures in the station.
He shared numerous initiatives taken by the power station i.e compulsory use of crash helmets by employees and start of whattsup group to monitor safety issues with fast action on daily basis.
Safety Officer Shri S K Pradhan Das read the annual safety report and briefed the various initiatives taken at the station level to enhance safety for the workers and employees.
Safety banners, posters and slogans displayed at various strategic locations to spread the awareness of safety messages.
Safety awards were awarded to best three agencies.30 best safety conscious workers of the station from various agencies for annual maintenance and overhauling work were awarded, in addition, six best CISF fire personnel for contributing towards plant fire safety activities were also awarded during the celebration. On this occasion Shri L D Sahoo,GM(O&M),Shri Anil Jana,GM(FM) & Shri A K Ojha,GM,(HR) ,senior officials & representatives of union & association were present on the occasion.
