Bhubaneswar: Intense cold wave conditions sweeps across Odisha. According to Met office sources, the condition would continue for the next 48 hours. While Phulbani recorded the lowest temperature on Wednesday with mercury dipping to 2 degree Celsius, Baripada and Keonjhar recorded 5 degree and 6.3 degree Celsius respectively.
Snow appeared at Daringbadi in Kandhamal district as mercury dipped to a freezing point. It was -0.5 degree Celsius at Daringbadi and Belghar.
The minimum night temperature of many parts in the state including Sundargarh and Balangir dipped to less than 10 degree Celsius. While Sundargarh shivered at 5.9 degree Celsius lives in Balangir were put into disarray with 6.1 degree Celsius at night.
The state capital also recorded 10 degree Celsius on Friday. Extreme cold condition with foggy morning and chilly winter has affected classes of school students and work of office bearers.
In most of the western and Southern Odisha districts, the busy trading and business hubs are found to have down their shutters in the late evening hours due to intense cold wave.
In the remote areas of these districts, children have stopped going to school in the morning hours. Meanwhile, reports from Daringibadi in Phulbani district informed about a mild snowfall last night.
