Report by Prachee Naik, Bhubaneswar: Invest Bhubaneswar (IB) has organised its 3rd Odisha Symposium at Campus VII Auditorium, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar with an aim to provide an opportunity for net-working for the local entrepreneurs and get connected to the world of business, trade and commerce represented by people from Start-ups, MSMEs, Corporate, MNCs, Venture capitals, Consulting firms, Funding agencies. Mentor-mentee matching are some of the distinct outcomes anticipated from this event.
This symposium was inaugurated by Mr. Surya Narayan Patro, Minister for revenue and disaster in presence of Dr. Damodar Rout, Family & Welfare minister & Mr. Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister of Agriculture .
The main focus areas of IB Odisha Symposium are Finance and Funding, IT, Green Technology and the emerging sector of Educational Animation and the theme for the event is Connecting Odisha.Reputed professionals from above fields will share their experience and knowledge in the four technical sessions of the conference on 22nd Dec.
The Invest Bhubanwswar was conceptualised as an event to strengthen the positioning of Odisha as a favoured destination for investment in sectors like IT, Tourism and Hospitality, Higher Education, Energy and Infrastructure with emphasis on eco-friendly technology and applications.
Over the years, Invest Bhubaneswar has gathered momentum as a significant movement to promote Odisha and has emerged as a platform of choice for interaction amongst global investors, entrepreneurs, technology developers, venture capitalists, funding agencies, policy makers, academicians and researchers. In the past few years IB has been instrumental in facilitating business alliances, technical collaborations and providing meaningful inputs for policy formulations thereby connecting Odisha to the global business community and rekindling entrepreneurial enthusiasm and growth.

Senior executives from NASSCOM, National Small Industry Corporation and SIDBI are also participated in this symposium.
The maiden Invest Bhubaneswar event was held on July 1st, 2010 at Palo Alto, San Francisco which turned out to be a successful endeavour to channelize the entrepreneurial skills, energy and the eco-system of the Silicon Valley to Odisha for nurturing its budding talents and giving new dimensions to joint ventures. The cause espoused by IB has found support from active industry associations of the State, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), the Civil Society including a large number of professionals accomplished in diverse fields. The State Government and Team Odisha have all along been pillars of strength for the IB. The most recent event of Invest Bhubaneswar was organised at Singapore on Nov 27th, 2012 and was immensely successful in putting forth the opportunities the State could offer to the business community of Singapore.
